Our conical strainers and their options
STARFILTER designs, develops and manufactures conical strainers for the filtration of liquids and gases. Our products can have any dimensions, and a great number of options adapt them to all your projects. Whatever your need is, send us your specifications, and our design office will study it to offer you the conical strainer that best suits your project.
To begin with, STARFILTER’s conical strainers are made of steel or stainless steel, giving them high strength and long life. Thus, they can be used without difficulty in high pressure or heat environments. In addition, a precise selection of materials allows you to use our products in environments that are particularly corrosive or have special sanitary standards. Moreover, we can design our products to adapt them to a normal or inverted flow, thus adapting to all configurations.
Conical strainers, also called temporary filter
Conical strainers are commonly referred to as a “temporary filters” and are often used when starting a pipeline to protect the pumping system. Fitted with a flange, they are installed directly in your pipes, between two flanges. They are called temporary as they are removed from the system once it has been running long enough, and that no remaining debris can damage the pumps.
Their conical shape gives them a much larger filtration surface than a single disk and therefore greatly reduces the pressure drop.
The combination of metal sheet, perforated sheets and wire-mesh makes it possible to create complex shapes and implies no limitation in size. Thus, there is no limit to the conical strainer that we can conceive. In addition, they offer filtration up to micron and are therefore are sufficient for any filtration necessity.
Sizing and options to fit on your installations
STARFILTER offers a large number of options for the manufacturing of its strainers, in order to adapt them to all your projects. You will be able to provide them with a flange, in order to install it directly on your piping. We can add a handle, for easier gripping and handling. If necessary, Stabilisers or reinforcements can also be mounted for more turbulent environments
In order to design your conical strainer, we will need the nominal diameter [ND], the nominal pressure [NP] of your system, as well as the fineness of filtration. These basic elements are the information required for the standard dimensioning of your product. In order to fully customize it, you can also define the desired transparency, the length or even the thickness of the walls. Refer to the table below for a non-exhaustive list of options for your conical strainer.
